This piece, completed in April 2021, is part of the “Under the Sea” collection of work that examines the influence of rising sea levels and coastal erosion along the Pembrokeshire Coast.
Created in stoneware clay and adorned with coastal flora, crustacea and angular forms representative of the precarious boulders that fall from the cliffs along the coast.
The piece is finished in black gloss and aventurine glazes that are reflective of the iron rich tones in the local rock formations. The interaction of the two glazes creates beautiful overlays that marry well with the contrasting organic and angular forms.
