Tulip Vase - Neptune and Jelly Fish

These hanging tulip vases made from stoneware clay have a hand painted decoration on each side. Their design stems from my fascination with Delft blue and white tulip vases created in the 17th Century that celebrated the humble tulip by creating elaborate towers and receptacles for these colourful flowers.
Each painting has a connection to either the coast or countryside where I live and work; although sometimes stretching this connection a little by including a Minoan octopus styled from the famous 1500 BC Jar, another piece of pottery that has always fascinated me!
