Black, off white, green, aventurine and platinum Sea Globe
Dimensions: H: 10.5cms D: 10.5cms
Clay: Earthenware
Technique: Slip cast
Glaze: Black, grey, green, aventurine, platinum
Sculpture / Non Functional
Earthenware Sea Globes are fired many times to create complex glazing designs that have been abstractly inspired by the coastline where I live and work.
This globe has a a variety of panels of grey, aventurine and black tones with an off white panel with lines of green and aventurine that have been softened through holding the globe in the kiln at its optimum temperature. Inspired by the rock formations here on the Pembrokeshire coast during the final firing platinum detailing has been applied to rim.
I complete very few Earthenware Sea Globes due to the success rate being low caused by the multiple firings and complex glazing designs. Each piece is unique and designed purely as a sculptural “objet d’art” / fine art ceramic sculpture and is not functional (i.e. should not be used as a vase).
Initialled on the base.
