Black, Aventurine and Gold Sea Globe (2 of 3)

£245.00
Sold

Dimensions: H: 10.5cms D: 10.5cms

Clay: Earthenware

Technique: Slip cast

Glaze: Black, aventurine, black lustre, gold lustre

Sculpture / Non Functional

Earthenware Sea Globes are fired many times to create complex glazing designs that have been abstractly inspired by the coastline where I live and work.

This Sea Globe has been finished with multiple black tones and aventurine glazing with gold and black lustre detailing added in the final firing. The piece has been inspired by the local rock formations and the morning light that hits these wet iron rich cliffs resulting in a golden reflective light.

This piece is available to purchase individually or as a set of three - please contact Richard to enquire about the price for the triptych.

I complete very few Earthenware Sea Globes due to the success rate being low caused by the multiple firings and complex glazing designs. Each piece is unique and designed purely as a sculptural “objet d’art” and is not functional (i.e. should not be used as a vase).

Initialled on the base.
